Ribs and Hips and Malnutrition? Oh my!

I realize that this may be one of my more gruesome posts, I'll own that, however these are the things that are needing to be said. I'm asking you not to read over this like a lecture, but really try to make a difference. Even if blogging is your difference, the word about this needs to go viral and that's where we come in.
Horse abuse is rampant in the north and the reason for this is the lack of objectivity within the staff of Humane Societies. This may sound like mindles drivel, that they cannot not have a relationship with people in the community; it needs to be one that can be objectivity when the times comes. They don't need to crack skulls in order to get their job done, but there comes a time when they need to be pulled into the light. I'm talking about cheesy dark room spotlight lights at this point.
When horses are dropping dead, and have dislocated jaw, stifles, and are allowed to be ridden in lessons and that is not considered abuse there is something wrong.
I'm drawing the line in the sandbox, I am asking that the SPCA hold these Humane societies accountable for the staff that are hired, and have objective SPCA staff review the animals that are reported as abused.
For a large organization that embodies itself around protecting the animals at all costs, cost are seemingly the largest issue. I know of an Humane Society that has adopted out cats with broken backs and bird shot in their bodies. What place is there to protect animals and what vet is on staff that a BROKEN BACK is overlooked. The pictures would rival those of the Toronto Humane Society bust.
I'm making this because the smaller cities are often overlooked because it seems nothing can happen within them. I'm asking you to push for if not a more critical eye on smaller towns. Something needs to happen, and it's not going to without us.
